My beautiful friend Harriet just got married to her handsome groom (as well as being a baker, I also double up as a match maker on weekends and introduced the pair, yay!) and I was entrusted with making the wedding favours! She had a brilliant idea to match them to the elegant white roses that would make up the center pieces on the table. It was such a gorgeous day and a stunning wedding. I had to drop them off the day before the wedding to The Orery On Marylebone High Street but trust me to get lost and spend 50 minutes walking around with 63 white rose cup cakes trying to find a venue that was right under my nose! Oh well, they got there in the end and went down a (Gilly) Treat and while most of them were gobbled quickly some actually managed to leave the venue as favours.
I covered them in domes and tied these to the cakes with cream coloured ribbon so they could easily be taken away.

A friend of mine asked me to make something special for his girlfriend's birthday and wisely or not, gave me creative licence so I made a rainbow cake that looks plain on the outside but the inside reveals rainbow coloured slices. It was a real crowd pleaser and he said everyone loved it! It got a great response and it's actually really simple to make. All you do is make a normal cake mix and then remember 'Richard of york gave battle in vain' to remind yourself of the rainbow colours, separate out the mix into 7 equal measures, colour them and then go about creating a rainbow!
This was the first time I ever made a castle cake and it was tough! I got asked to make one for a 4th birthday so went about researching online. The cake sponge was chocolate, so nothing too hard there but the turrets were a real challenge! I made them out of cardboard tubes so unfortunately they could not be eaten but if anyone has any suggestions on edible ones I would be grateful as it would make it a bit more special if I make another one in the future.
Okay, it has been AGES since I've been on here and despite promising myself that I was going to spend the summer working on building my empire I have been jet setting, wedding attending and relaxing to the max but I'm back now and ready to update on what I've been doing!
As well as baking I'm also interested in retro fashion and was recently mentioned in an interview with the owner of vintage company
